Patrick Algrim

Hi, I'm glad that you're here. I'm Patrick Algrim. If you're willing to do a little reading, I believe I can satisfy the reason for why you may have visited. Let's see if I can assist you.

I've built things large. Built things small. And in many disciplines. Qualities about me that make me unique includes: left and right brain thinker, true delta leader, and struggling perfectionist who is consistently searching for answers.

In the evergreen process of discovering who and what I am, I'm happy to share where my sense of self sits as of July 2024. Remember, this is an everlasting journey that I'm continuing. Who I am, what I stand for, where my life has been, where my life will go. This is the pursuit that will last me until my end of days. Within these phrases and words I exist: True north. Small delta. Purpose. Heart.

Ch. 02: DIGiTAL LIFE

STORYLINE

In my career life, I've engaged in multiple disciplines that all center around digital. Our existential "digital age" is one of the most profound transformations of human history. And we're still in early-stages.

Digital has the strongest distribution effect when compared to other business types. At the age of 9, I began tinkering with computers. My fascination with them centered around building experiences that could be distributed at scale. The concept that a web asset could get accessed by anyone at anytime was something that compelled me to create.

Today, I stand behind this original concept that drew me into what was then "a concept" of the internet. Software has the unique ability to solve problems and also have tremendous distribution effects that no other business type can recreate.

My true career began in 2008, where I assisted my college newspaper in converting to an online editorial platform. From there, I continued to join early-stage internet businesses, including the likes of Groupon, Threadless, and Braintree.

As my professional career matured, I received opportunity to have limited and full-time experiences at a number of businesses including: Venmo, Reputation.com, Boxee, Platform9, Uber, Thought Catalog, uShip, KlickTrack, and a handful of other startups that either sunset their businesses through acquisition or burn rate exhaustion.

The experiences are split 70/40 with Consumer internet businesses and B2B internet businesses.

Through these experiences I've designed, developed, written, and released efforts onto the internet with the aim of solving problems for those who need it. A core part of my DNA, which I've been unable to modify, is a deep sense of empathy for other people.

As I look back on my 13-year career, I go back to my original experience with computers at the age of 9. Once more, it comes back to empathy for others, solving problems, and doing so at large distribution.

Incomplete list of companies that I've worked with: Groupon, Braintree, Venmo, Thought Catalog, Reputation.com, Verisk, Volusion, Oak Street Health / CVS Health, Fast Company, Platform9, FOSSA, Visually, Boxee, Digit, uShip, KlickTrack, Stathat.

Ch. 03: IDENTiTY

FIGURINES

Foolishly, I suppose I never fully anticipated just how much our life experiences would define us. At the young age of 35, I began to realize how much what happens around us, to us, and with us—shapes us. Some may say this is late to realize this. Others may say it's early.

When words aren't enough, imagery can assist. If you've reached this point, you may still be wondering who I am. If I were challenged with the idea of self-expression without using my facial features, how would I perform this? A small collection of images that I enjoy may help you along your query.

Through my own personal passions, I've had the opportunity to invest very small sums of capital to infuse growth and sustainability into companies and organizations that inspire me. My investment criteria is simply based on interest, passion, and vision.

My passions include design, architecture, typography, interior design, functional fitness, racing (of many kinds), skateboarding

Dwell was a magazine that inspired my career and passions as a young teenager. I received the opportunity to invest in the company. In addition, my most recent passion to sustainable cattle raising and a closer relationship to our food sources, I've invested a small sum of capital into Porter Road. Lastly, if you're curious, you can donate and take part in the Texas & Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.
